For Parents

How our studies work:

When you come into the lab, the researcher will explain all the details of the study to you and answer any questions before you begin.

If you're participating with your 7-30 month old, you and your child will go into a sound proof booth and we will have your child either sit in your lap or in a car seat. Your child will hear some sounds played through the speakers in the booth and see images on the screens. Studies for this age usually last about 5-10 minutes.

If you're participating with your 2.5-5.5 year old, you and your child will go into a sound proof booth, and we will either show them some videos or ask them to play a game with you or the experimenter. We may also ask your child to complete a picture vocabulary test. Studies at this age usually last about 30-60 minutes.

After each study, you will return to the waiting room and may be asked to fill out some forms before receiving a thank you gift for your time.
