What ages do you study?
Broadly, we conduct studies with children ages 6 months to 5 years. If we do not currently have a study that your child qualifies for, we will call you as soon as they become eligible to participate.
Is parking available?
Yes! The Nittany Parking Deck is located right next to our building and we can provide you with a bar code sticker for your ticket so you won't have to pay for parking.
Can I bring my other children along to the appointment?
Yes! If you have other children, you can certainly bring them to the appointment with you. We will have another lab member available to play with them while you are in the booth with the child that is participating in the research study. Your other children may also be eligible to participate in a different research study!
How long does it take?
If your child is under 2 years old, the visit to the lab will take a total of 20-30 minutes, with the study itself typically ranging from 5-10 minutes total. If your child is 2-6 years old, your visit to the lab will take 45-60 minutes, with the study ranging from 30-40 minutes.
Will there be a follow-up visit?
Our studies only require one visit, but you are always welcome to come back for more studies!
How will the findings from the research be used?
Our studies are typically published in academic journals that are read by other researchers who are interested in language acquisition and early cognitive development. Anytime we publish a study, we discuss the results in terms of group data and we never release specific information about any participants, thus your child's participation and responses are completely confidential.
